Your badge has 2 buttons. There is one closest to the USB charger (which we’ll call Button 2) and one closest to the top of the badge and is right above Button 2 (which we’ll call Button 1).
Hold down Button 1 for 2-3 seconds. Once you do this, the badge will be in pairing mode. You’ll see an animation on the badge indicating that it’s in pairing mode when doing this.
When you first turn on your badge, you’ll see the following: 1) an icon indicating the amount of battery left in the badge, and 2) the phrase “MI-8” (this phrase just identifies the type of badge you’re using for our internal purposes).
Button 2 is useful when there are multiple messages. When you’ve selected multiple messages, if you tap Button 2 once, it will skip to the end of the existing message so that the next message can be played. If you tap Button 2 twice, it will replay only the second message (same works for if there are 3 messages). If you want the messages to play serially after you’ve chosen just the 2nd or 3rd messages to repeat, just tap Button 2 once.
Also, Button 2, if held down for 2-3 seconds, will bold (i.e. make brighter) the text in the badge.
1) Create a message (or use an existing one) in the mobile application by clicking on any message and then typing in a message.
2) After creating a message, then go back to the home screen and turn the toggle on for any of the messages you want to sync to the badge.
3) Tap Button 1 on the badge to turn in on.
4) Hold Button 1 for 2-3 seconds to activate pairing mode; you’ll see an animation in your badge indicating that the badge is in pairing mode once you do this.
5) Tap “Connect to Badge” in the mobile application (on the bottom of the screen). You’ll see a screen that says “Found Badge” and at the bottom, you’ll see the option to select “Program”.
6) Tap “Program” and then once the badge is synced, you’ll quickly see a checkmark indicating that the sync took place and the “Found Badge” screen will disappear.
Hold Button 1 for 2 - 3 seconds to activate pairing mode; you’ll see an animation in your badge indicating that the badge is in pairing mode once you do this.
You’ll see a screen that says “Connecting” and then will see a message that says “Connection Failed” with a crying face emoji. To try again, tap out of the screen and select “Connect to Badge” again.
“Available Modes” are how the messages are displayed on the badge itself:
“Left” = the text ends up on the left by scrolling from right to left
“Right” = the text ends up on the right by scrolling left to right
“Up” = the text ends up on top going bottom to top
“Down” = the text ends up on the bottom by going from top to bottom
“Freeze” = text does not move. Note if the message does not fit on the screen, it will freeze portions of the message and display in multiple sessions
“Pile Up” = the text will appear after “piling” or “stacking” up
“Volume Up” “Laser”, and “Animation” = variation of the text being displayed in a more catchy way
“Available Speeds” control how fast the “available modes” occur (i.e. how fast the text scrolls through the badge). We’ve included many options so you can get the speed just right. The options are Slowest, Slow, Normal, Fast, and Fastest.
“Enable Flash” controls whether you want the text to flash when displayed.
“Enable Border” controls whether you want a border around the text when displayed.
